Turmeric Summer Drink

I love turmeric as much as the next guy, so when I flipped across a recipe in a health magazine recently for a turmeric-vodka drink, I immediately dog-eared that page for a call-back!

I decided to test out the recipe to see how it tasted. My first thought: it’s fantastic! The orange flavor really comes through then you get a nice kick of ginger and turmeric, the honey helps cut through some of the bitterness of the turmeric… overall a really refreshing drink.

In true fashion, however, I often tweak recipes a bit and I felt this one could be a little less-sweet, so I made a new batch where I cut down the sugar, omitted the alcohol, and also tried it with tequila.

Tequila is actually a probiotic drink and considered an “upper” which makes it a good option if you’re wanting to booze-it-up.

Omitting the alcohol all together creates a nice “mocktail” alternative for when you’re NOT wanting to drink.

Turmeric is an important spice to have in your life for so many reasons. It has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits and has been used for centuries as a “healing” spice because of its exquisite make-up. You should be eating it and drinking it as much as possible.

Try putting turmeric in a salad dressing, your stir fry recipes, sprinkled over your sweet potato. You can experience major benefits with just one teaspoon a day. I’ve even concocted a morning shot with turmeric that can help you get it in your diet. You can try it here: Turmeric Shot.

This drink also has ginger in it which is great for digestion and tummy troubles, along with raw honey which has medicinal properties of its own.

It’s the perfect, refreshing drink to have on a summer day and you’ll be boosting your health in the process. Can’t beat that!
