3 Ways To Elevate Water

The best way to help your body detox? Grab a bottle of water and start chugging!

I’ve been indulging a little too much lately, so the easiest way for me to get back on track, is by simply drinking H-2-O.

Health experts recommend 6 to 8 glasses of water a day (on average). Some research indicates you should drink HALF your body weight in ounces. There’s also a few formulas out there that you can explore for more accuracy, like this one:

  1. Take your weight divide by 2.2
  2. Multiply that number by your age.
  3. Divide the sum by 28.3
  4. Your total is how many ounces of water you should drink a day.
  5. Divide that number by 8 to see your results in cups.

You also need to take into account how active you are, so if you’re sweatin’ a lot, you’ll want to keep your water intake on the higher end.

Once you figure out how much water you should be drinking, invest in a good water bottle.

I drink out of a glass bottle that’s meant for milk. I got these at Target because I like to make my own almond milk AND I like to drink out of glass.

Some research shows plastic can actually leach into your water, so it’s important if you’re going to drink out of plastic, get “BPA Free.” If ya don’t want to worry about it, go glass

I also love this bottle because it holds 36 ounces, so I know I need 2 to 3 of these a day to meet/exceed my health goals. I also don’t have to fill it up on repeat, which is taxing to me and why a bigger bottle works for me. Definitely find something that works for YOU.

Now comes the fun… I want to give you three ways to get the most out of your water by elevating it with… food!

First up… grab some LEMON or LIME, both are great sources of vitamin c and antioxidants, it’s just a matter of taste preference, and add some FRESH MINT to your water. Mint is soothing and is great for digestions. It’s also a natural way to get fresh breath.

Next… add some LEMON AND GINGER to your water.  Just peel your ginger and cut a few thin slices and add it to your water. Ginger is like a natural appetite suppressant, so it’s actually good for weight loss. Ginger is in the same plant family as cardamom and turmeric, which are known for their healing abilities, so ginger is actually incredibly potent too.

Last up… add LEMON OR LIME and add CUCUMBER to your water. Add just a few slices and leave the skin on for extra vitamins. Cucumbers are incredibly hydrating, so it’s really great for your skin, giving you a supple look and glow.

One last tip, drink your water at room temperature. It’s actually better for digestion than ice cold water and will help you digest food easier.

All right, enough of this water talk, let’s  “CHUG, CHUG, CHUG…..”

Cheers!
